Shadowloo Showdown 2012 Qualifier Japan Details Announced

Gamanoabura has just released information regarding the Japan qualifier for Shadowloo Showdown 2012, Zhi from the CrossCounter team has been kind enough to translate Gama’s post for us. Check below for the details in Japanese and English.

For the last 2 years, many Japanese players have attended the famous Shadowloo Showdown in Australia. NSB will be in charge of the JP domestic qualifiers.

Title: SSF4 AE 2012
What: JP Local Preliminary Qualifier
When: 2/4 or 2/11. Weekend tournament. For all details and regulations, please check our weekend tournament announcements. 1 (One) person will win a chance to compete in the JP National qualifiers held on the 18th.

When: 2/18 (Sat) Evening time
# of players: 8
Regulation: EVO style. race to 2 matches. each match is 2/3 rounds. double elimination
Organizer: TBA
Winner will receive an all expense paid trip to participate in SS. This prize is funded generously by SS.

When: May 5,6. Winner will be staying in AUS from 5/2-5/8.

There will be 7 spots to qualify for the JP national qualifiers. Please contact each for their respective rules and regulations:

At first, we contemplated making an open-style tournament, but in order to expand our scene and push SF4 to higher levels, we decided to pick these channels to hold the qualifiers because we believe these individuals listed above are critical members of the community. This is the reason behind the current format.

As many of you know by now, NSB’s operations were halted for a short period of time. The Tournament organizers tried their best to fan the flames and ensure the resurgence of fighting games, but many suffered from a sever shortage of manpower. Beginning with this tournament, we are spreading the burden of labor across multiple key individuals who have the ability to generate hype for our scene. We would be delighted by continued support.

当初、本大会予選は完全なオープントーナメンで行うことを検討しておりましたが、今後もっとスパ４を、格ゲーを大きな流行にするには、こうした盛り上げようとしている人たちの力が重要との思いから今回の方式を取ることに致しました。
